Sad news came to our family early this morning!!! Our best brother in-law Khải left us early this morning. We’re supposed to visit him next week but we’re waiting for him to come back for his funeral. He’s Engineer for CalTrans almost 30 years and waiting to retire after his daughters Michelle&Christine graduated from college. That’s a dream of any father on his 57th Birthday two weeks ago. He’s just like my younger brother. Everybody in our family love him. He organized so many family camping trip for 50+ members to Yosemite, Sequoia, San Clemente, Catalina…The best cook, the best fisherman, the best basketball player, the best poker player…we all love you and missed you! We all praying for you to reunite with both Moms at The Buddha’s Land💕💕💕🕊🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹

I worked with Khai, for years, and he was one of the most sweetest guys I know. Very family oriented, and always was so helpful when ever I needed him. Just a true friend who will definitely be missed. To the family, may GOD grant you strength to get thru this pain, and just keep his memories alive. God bless you all.
Love Debbie, & family.
Dear Dao, Michelle and Christine ❤

Khai was always a great friend and carpool partner! He kept me laughing at work and always reminded me …. It was never that serious. May heart is broken for the family! 🙏🏽

I’ve known Khai since we first met in college (CSULB) in 1990. A beautiful soul has touched many who have crossed his path. Khai never said “NO” and never asked for anything in return, but always willing to help from fixing cars, home improvements, to computer problems, and definitely his advice on sport bookings. Mondays for Khai would be either a big smile or a grumpy reaction from wining/losing results. Thank you Big brother for being my BEST friend for all these years. I will miss you dearly until we meet again.

It’s very sad to hear about the passing of Khai. He was such a wonderful friend and coworker with a big heart. He always offered to help and taught me quite many things about computer when we worked together, although for a short time.
I remember when I told Khai my newborn twin daughters’ names, I saw a big surprise on his face as he laughed and said: “WHAT! … That’s my daughters’ names”. After that day, sometimes he jokingly asked “How are my Michelle and Christine doing?!”. That was almost 18 years ago, but I never forget.
Please accept my deepest condolences and sympathies to your family. May Khai rest in peace.

I’ve known Mr. Phan (I think I’m the only who calls him that) for nearly 30 years. He was not only a great friend, husband and father, but also like a brother to me. He was a YES man, always so generous in his time and helps out everyone, there was nothing that he couldn’t do or fix. What I love about him was that he was always prepared for anything, down to the details. Whatever I forget to do or get, he’d always say, “Woman! Or “Didn’t I tell you?” Yess, he told me so and I always forget but was grateful for him cuz he always cared, always!! You left us too soon, but you will never be forgotten because your memories will live forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace Mr. PHAN. ❤We love and miss you very dearly. I know you will be watching over us. #candycrush I will finish the rest of the levels for you.
Remembering you always,
Andie (Thý)
As the late Bob Hope would say, “Thanks for the memories” .
Our family will forever cherish all the remarkable moments that we spent with Khai. Not only was he a great friend but he was also an incredible uncle to our three children. One of Khai’s expertise was that he was very handy in home repairs. I remember when he once offered to help us build a backyard fence for our home, a two strenuous days of labor, but because of his enthusiasm and kindness, he had given of himself untiringly and unselfishly to finish the work in no time…!
Another thing that comes to mind is our camping trips. Whenever we’d all want to go camping, Khai would be the one to step up to be the organizer. While we brought just a few tents and personal belongings, Khai would volunteer to bring everything else: food, fishing gear, utensils, outdoor cooker, pots and pans…. Anything and everything that you could ever imagine. I guess you could say he was the “AMAZON” of camping!
One of the activities that we enjoyed spending time together was our annual guy’s trip to Palm Spring. It will never be the same without Khai. His calm and generous persona is something we will miss. Although this day in time is very sad for all of us, we are here to celebrate his amazing life and remember it for as long as we live .
Khai’s passing leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and generosity. We will miss him dearly. REST IN PEACE, my friend, CHU KHAI. Until we meet again.
Love,
Danny, Lin and Family
Khải had been a friend of mine, and a family friend for around 40 years. Although I have not seen Khải as much since I got married, and he as well, around 25 years ago, it was always a pleasure to see him every now and then at birthdays or đám giỗ get together. I had always known Khải to be a kind, thoughtful, and caring person. We used to meet up with other friends and my brother every Sunday afternoon at El Camino college to play volleyball until dark. Then we would stop by at 7-11 to get a soda and talked about anything until late. That was the best time of my life and Khải was always there. I remember when I had a volleyball accident and the fence took a big chunk out of my leg, and I was bleeding profusely, Khải drove me to the ER to get stitched up. That’s a kind of person he is. I don’t have many friends, and I am proud to say that he’s one of the very few that I have.
Khải is loved for who he was in life and shall always be remembered and cherished in death.
Rest In Peace my good friend!

To the Phan family,
My heart goes out to you. I haven’t worked with Khai for a long time, but when we were co-workers at Caltrans we always had a good time. He always uplifted my spirits when I felt down, and our “Heckle and Jeckle” work life kept the day going until it’s time to go home.
There was never any doubt that he was an adoring husband and father, and everyone near him was privilege to have him has a friend.
Khai was a very kind man, and I wish you the best as you live in his memory.
Love and prayers,
Judy Low
